How to Clean Washing Machine

By August 18, 2024September 5th, 2024No Comments

A clean washing machine is essential for ensuring your clothes come out fresh and free from odors. In this blog post, we will show you how to clean both front-load and top-load washing machines.

Front- Load Washing Machine Cleaning:

You will need these items to clean your front-load washing machine:

  • White vinegar.
  • Sodium baking soda
  • Used toothbrush from old times

Guidelines:

  1. Sanitize the rubber gasket; mildew and mold can flourish here. In a spray bottle, equal parts water and white vinegar. Spray the gasket, let it sit for a few minutes, then gently wipe it with a cloth. Scrub any remaining tough residue with an old toothbrush.
  2. Remove the detergent dispenser and let it soak in warm, soapy water. Scrub any residual bits with an old toothbrush.
  3. Load one to two cups of white vinegar into the detergent dispenser for a cleaning cycle. Empty the hot water cycle.
  4. Once the cycle is over, toss a cup of baking soda into the drum and run another hot water cycle to get rid of smells.

Cleaning Top-Load Washing Machine

You will require the following items to clean your top-load washing machine:

  • White vinegar.
  • Optionally bleach
  • Used toothbrush from old times

Guidelines:

  1. Clean the washing machine’s outside with a light detergent and a wet cloth.
  2. Remove the detergent dispenser and let it soak in warm, soapy water. Scrub with an old toothbrush.
  3. Wipe clean the agitator with a cloth soaked in white vinegar.
  4. Run a cleaning cycle by loading hot water into the washing machine. Top the detergent dispenser with one cup of white vinegar. Let the machine complete a cycle.
  5. Voluntary: Add one cup of bleach to the detergent dispenser following the vinegar cycle for heavy-duty cleaning. Run still another hot water cycle.

Additional Tips

  • After every usage, leave the washing machine door somewhat open to let moisture drain.
  • To keep your washing machine running efficiently, clean it often—at least once a month.
  • Look for leaks and guarantee correct laundry room ventilation.
  • Wherever you can, use environmentally friendly cleaning supplies.

Following these guidelines will help keep your washing machine clean and guarantee that your clothing comes out smelling-free and fresh.
